With the passing of time, when the Laws of Manu, originally passed on by oral tradition, came to be written, they were already mixed with non-original elements. Therefore the present Manu Smriti (the Vedic text traditionally considered to contain the Laws of Manu) does not fully convey the original set of those Laws.
